In general, a starter relay consists of several main parts, including a coil which receives an electrical signal as input, and a contact (switch) which controls a larger electric current as output. When an electrical signal is applied to the relay coil, it creates a magnetic field that attracts or repels the contacts, which in turn permits or blocks the flow of greater electrical current.
The use of starter relays is very common in a variety of electronic and electrical applications to control devices that require more power than can be handled by switches or direct control signals.
